Psalm 86:15
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
I think if I were living at the time this Psalm was written, I might have been more fearful of God and less able to see His love and faithfulness. But when God sent Jesus, we were given a perfect example and model for living. I know God must be slow to anger, because he has not left us. Love forgives much. May I live in that love.
Holy One, I do not deserve your patience and love. Thank you for not giving up on me when I disappoint you or make you angry. Amen

This short verse is a reminder of how powerful anger can be. One little five letter word and yet four separate words: compassion, grace, love and faithfulness are needed to counteract it - all being attributes of God. Reveling in anger and bitterness may be easy but is inevitably destructive to all concerned. A godly life as modeled by Jesus is much more difficult, but the rewards are uplifting and…
