A Daily Devotion for Thursday, December 25

Luke 2:8-14

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,

and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Today we celebrate! Christ is born! He is with us forevermore 🩷. There is so much to be thankful for, and today I will remember to be thankful for the rough times, as they bring me closer to Jesus. I am thankful for my children, and although it is painful to love them so dearly, I am blessed to have the honor of being “Mom”. I am thankful for their partners and friends, who care about them, look out for them, and love them. And I am thankful for my husband, who is infinitely forgiving of my oddities, and seems to love me in spite of them. Christ is born, God among us. Alive in me! Amen

Merry Christmas!

Becky, transforming

Christmas Day

(Focus: someone I know who embodies the joy of Christmas

Luke 2:11

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

There is nothing like the joy of a child when Christmas is here.  The author in the upper room, made me realize that in today’s world most children are unaware of the real joy of Christ. Only the concerns of the gifts under the tree. I believe  parents should teach them the real joy of Christmas.  So this is how I would explain it to my children if I could do it all over again. Imagine a superhero came to Earth, not in…

Luke 2:8-14. Christmas Day

Like the author of today's devotion, I always have left the stable empty until the arrival of Christmas morning. I actually place all the figures of the story on shelf and move them toward the stable as the story is told. We have Mary and Joseph traveling toward the stable, the shepherds and sheep a short distance away--not realizing what was to come, and the wisemen way off in the distance with many miles left to travel. Like it did that night so long ago, everyone will be in place Christmas morning. Of course, the wisemen still have a way to go.

Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for this story and special thanks for my daughter…

Luke 2:8-14

God with us. Again and again with each passing year, Jesus is born in the hearts of all who believe and that birth opens the hearts of many more who come to faith and reap the inheritance of eternal life. I pray this Christmas is truly special for my Transformers family. May you be richly blessed and refreshed for a new year of faith.

Prayer - Father, Son, Holy Spirit, be with all who call in You this Christmas Day and let them feel Your presence in their lives. As we exchange gifts with our earthly loved ones, let us remember and give thanks for the gifts of the lives of those we have lost over the years.…
