Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit.
We are truly blessed. How can I possibly complain when I know what I know about God’s forgiveness and promises? I have recently been reminded of the repentance half of the equation. God has not given me a golden ticket at no cost. I have responsibilities as a Christian. Maybe I take those responsibilities even more seriously because of God’s forgiveness. I am a sinner who has been forgiven.
Father God, you have blessed me beyond anything I deserve. I am sorry for my sins, and I can’t undo them. I can only move forward and be a better person. Amen

Psalm 32:1-2 Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty. I read several different translation of this verse. This one says joy, another says blessed, and another said lucky. I really feel that blessed is the right word. Because we believe in Christ and his forgiveness of our sins, we are blessed and we may feel joy, but I don’t think luck enters into my feelings. The entire purpose of God coming to earth as Jesus Christ and than being crucified, buried and resurrected was to forgive the sins of humanity once and for all. It is difficult in today‘s society to wrap my /our brain around this, just even trying to understand. Forgiveness is not about the sin or what the sinner deserves .God’s choice to forgive all sins of all people is reflective of who He is: a loving, compassionate creator of all things. Forgiveness is talked about in these verses. This forgiveness comes as a reward for confessing our sins, not denying them. This forgiveness shows us the wonderful love God has for us. Forgiveness is our path to freedom from sin.

How can we take sin seriously if we are forgiven each time we sin? As I wrote yesterday, it is because of God implanting a conscience in us. Through His teaching we know what is right. When we sin we know it, ask for forgiveness, and try to not do it again.

Psalm 32:1-2
The final words of this passage jump out to me as perhaps the most important. God will forgive and we will be blessed, but only if and when our spirit has no deceit. God will not be mocked. We cannot deceitfully claim forgiveness only as an excuse to continue to sin. Our very best effort at obedience is a tangible way we can show our gratitude for the grace through which God forgives our sin.
Prayer - Gracious God, help me guard my heart and spirit against deceit. May I always show You in the way I conduct my life, my gratitude for the blessing of Your forgiveness. Amen
