1John 5:1-12
verses 3-5: This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
This morning I am searching for a way to stay calm and at peace in the midst of all that is happening in our nation. When I read these words and allow them to speak to me, I know God has given me all I need. There are so many things I have no control over. But my own actions and my own choices- these things I can control. I can choose at all times to be loving and generous. I can try to be less self-centered and less needy of the praise of others. I can love first, and leave out judgmental measuring-up. These choices need to be the result of my faith.
Holy Father, Help me to walk the walk. I read your Word and listen for your guidance, and need to reform my life and my behavior. With your help I can be transformed. Amen

1 John 5:1-12 ( verse 3-4)
Jesus never promised that obeying him would be easy. I believe the hard part and self discipline of serving is in no way a burden to me, because I truly trust and love him. The wonderful part of being a Christian is that we are all part of God’s family with fellow believers. All he asks is that we simply accept and love him. Some days my thoughts and circumstance gets very stressful but I am able to recognize it now and I can trust Christ to help me through it....and he does. I am forever thankful for the Holy Spirit.
Lord, thank you for your guidance with me in believing and recognizing th…
1 John 5: 1-12
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.
There is only one God and that one God gave us his Son in order for us to have eternal life with Him. It is through Jesus that we will find our way to heaven. The commands are not difficult to live by, although sometimes we falter and disobey the commands. It is through the love of God that we are forgiven for our mistakes and through Jesus that we are saved. What wonderful words to live by, knowing that we will be saved as long as we believe and follow Jesus.
1 John 5:9 - “If we receive human testimony, the testimony of God is greater; for this is the testimony of God that he has testified to his Son.”
This says a lot about stubbornness and free will. We see examples every day of people not receiving compelling, truthful human testimony about one issue or another because they choose to endorse a narrative that flies in the face of mountains of evidence. That free will extends to the choice we make about the testimony of God. Where the Spirit-led believer sees grace, beauty and intelligent design, the non-believer sees random collections of molecules of no eternal significance. Like Jesus told the rich man in Hades, if people choose to disbelieve…
