2 Samuel 23:1-7
verse 2: “The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.”
I would like to think these could be my last words. I will never be a ruler over men or be a prophet. But the Spirit of the Lord does live in me. My destiny is to live accordingly. God wants this life for me. Again I am reminded to slow down, to listen, to be kind, to be generous and to be faithful to God.
Lord of all men and all things, you have sent your Spirit to dwell in me. May your Spirit guide me every moment. I would be honored to be a light for another, with your Spirit shining from me. I am yours, Amen

2Samuel 23:1-7 3-4 The God of Israel spoke, The Rock of Israel said to me: The one who rules righteously, who rules in the fear of God, is like the light of Morning at sunrise, like a morning without clouds, like the gleaming of the sun on new grass after rain. We are not sure David, himself actually wrote these words or that they were written for him just before or after his death. So much of what this person says, throughout Samuel, is such beautiful poetry. As a lover of both poetry and nature, I see such a visual with these verses. David tried very hard to always do God’s will, but he was human and made many mistakes. Howev…
Beautiful reminder that our salvation was born on Christmas Day. I try every day to keep Christmas in my heart.
“On Christmas Day our salvation began.” - awesome, Barb! Merry Christmas.
2 Samuel 23: 1-7
5 “If my house were not right with God, surely he would not have made me with an everlasting covenant, arranged and secured in every part; surely he would not bring to fruition my salvation and grant me my every desire.”
On Christmas Day our salvation began. It is with the birth of our Lord and Savior that our chance at eternal life was given to us. All we need to do to gain our place in heaven is give up sin. Because of our sinful nature this may not be easy, but it can be done. It is with this hope of salvation that we are promised perfect joy in heaven. It is the promis…
2 Samuel 23:1-7
David does not take time to toot his own horn; he gives glory to God. In seven short verses, David sums up his entire leadership over Israel. David says that it is God who anointed him and God who speaks for him (v1-2), and that he has ruled over Israel just as the LORD wanted. David said When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God, he dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth on a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth (v. 4). What beautiful poetry in these words, the effect a king should have on his kingdom. In verse 5, Davi…
