Luke 6:38
“Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Jesus is teaching us how to treat one another with these verses from Luke. If we are good to our neighbor, our neighbor is more likely to be good to his neighbor. Good gives rise to more good. As we walk the Camino, I have been warmed by how friendly people are. But even before we started, I felt the Holy Spirit nudging me to move out of my comfort zone and be more open to others. I will look for opportunities each and every day to be kind, generous and friendly to others.
Holy Lord, I know you are with us each day as we walk in Spain. Help me to see opportunities to put your teaching into action. Amen

The full reading suggested in the Upper Room challenges us to do more than treating others as we want to be treated. Treating others as we wish to be treated sounds pretty straightforward, however, the scripture points out how easy it is to love and care for those who love and care for us… doing the same for enemies can be quite a challenge. The purpose of giving is to be a blessing not to expect more for yourself after a blessing. It encourages us that when we give we won't go without or be in want, when our heart, our motive is to be a blessing when we give. This enhanced version of the Golden Rule should be a guide for day to day living. Life is greatly enhanced by simply passing the good forward. Easy to remember and do in this environment when virtually everyone is doing the same. It is a habit I need to bring home with me.
Prayer - Thank You, Lord for the many good people in the world who serve as reminders of Your love. Amen
