1 Corinthians 1:1-9
Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge — God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you. Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
It is a priceless gift to have a godly friend who can support and strengthen us in our relationship with God. We could all be on our own, worshiping and praising God, seeking God to discern His will, doing our best to carry it out. But what about when our own faith is tested, when we are struggling with a painful and scary situation? A friend in Christ can pray with us, can point us back to God and God’s love. We need each other, as Christians. I am thankful for every Christian in my life.
Holy Lord, today I am especially thankful for the relationships in my life which have you in the center. My Christian friends are a treasure. You have blessed me with beautiful Christian friendships, and I thank you. Amen

1 Thessalonians 5:11
We all need people in our lives who will lift us up and encourage us as we travel this sometimes rough road of life. I am very blessed to have those kind of people in my life and I hope I serve as a source of encouragement for others.
Dear God, help me to be an instrument of encouragement and to lift people up when they are down. Amen
1 Thessalonians 5:11
One of my granddaughters ran cross county in high school and college. I couldn't imagine how you could "watch" a cross country race. However, I soon learned that you follow the race as best you can, depending upon the course. You move with the race. You can shout your encouragement, ring your bells, etc. as your racer passes then you move to the next opening to do it again. It was a great spectator sport. One of the best parts was that everyone stayed at the finish line to encourage the slower runners and celebrate them as they finish. It showed you cared and that must have meant a lot to them.
Prayer: Gracious God, Like …
1 Thessalonians 5:11 Life is full of blessings and battles. One thing is sure as learned through Scripture and experience; life is a team sport. None of of were meant to go it alone, even if we feel we want it that way. Without the encouragement and building up of one another, our lives lack meaning and purpose. I thank God for those who support me and pray that I am able to support others, thus fulfilling this aspect of God’s plan.
Prayer - Lord God, please equip me to be the supportive and encouraging friend those who interact with me truly need. And may that process of building up be in Your name and to Your glory. Amen
