A Daily Devotion for Monday, March 1

Luke 17: 11-19

Verses 17-18: Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?”

Jesus healed ten men who had leprosy. They stood at a distance and called to him. Jesus called to them, telling them to go and show themselves to the priests. As they walked away, they were healed. Only one returned to thank Jesus, and he was a Samaritan.

What about the other nine? They were healed, but did not thank God for this miracle. Did they forget, even before they left the scene, what had actually happened? We hope they gave God the glory when they returned home. But it makes me think about all the times I have been saved from harm, rescued by God, removed safely from a bad situation. Did I , and do I remember to fall on my knees and thank God for his grace and power? I am sure I do not always remember to thank God.

Father God, you are in control of all things. You pull me out of bad situations daily. I am truly thankful, even when I forget to say so. My prayers to you today include my gratitude and thanks for the many times you have healed and saved me, even when I didn’t notice. Amen

2021-0301 Monday, Daily Devotion - Luke 17:11-19

Looking at the healing events of Jesus, what I often found is that Jesus’ healing is not only healing the sick itself but also telling a message to the Jews who considered themselves the people of God who are different or sacred from gentiles. But, Jesus praised the faith of gentiles and used His healing as an opportunity to teach them what true and great faith is.

From today’s scripture, Jesus praised the leper who came to Him and gave thanks to Him and the leper was a Samaritan who was considered as a gentile. I keep finding similar messages for the people of God who considered themselves as the chosen people and…

Luke 17:11-19

( Verses 14-16) The 10 lepers were able to recognize their need and called on Jesus to help them. (So I have to simply recognize my needs and ask Jesus for help) The men who were healed all realized their good fortune and rejoiced in it, recognizing where it came from. Jesus simply told them to go and show themselves to the priests. And, while they were on their way, they were all cured. Only one of the 10 took time to address himself to Jesus. Why not the other nine. Have I ever wanted to throw myself at Jesus’s feet out of sheer gratitude for what he has done for me. This man was not only a l…

Luke 17: 11-19

They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

I feel in some way I am just like the lepers asking Jesus to have pity on me. I need his help every day to follow in his footsteps. I call out to him each day to be healed and to become stronger in my faith. The healing love that Jesus offers is given so freely, we only need to call out to Him. Jesus will heal us and make us better.

Dearest Lord heal me. Mold me into what you want me to be. Let my faith in you grow each and every day. I call out…
