A Daily Devotion for Monday, June 7

John 8: 31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

There are so many things we could all be free of, if we fully accepted these words from Jesus. I am thinking in my own life I could be free of worry about things I can’t control. In much of my life I know I do have peace because of my relationship with Jesus. But there are times when I forget to put things in perspective. I forget that with God, all things are possible, and whatever happens, it will be in His hands.

Father God, you are in control, and you have promised me I will be with you forever. Help me to accept what happens in this life, and never lose sight of you. You are the pilot, and know my course. Amen

John 8:31-32. Jesus said to the people who believed him, you are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. I don’t think of myself as a disciple. Although I believe, I am not sure I am always faithful to his teachings. I know I often fall short. I have been reading Acts and I see that with the Holy Spirit, the disciples became apostles. They went from followers to be messengers or missionaries. I know I need to do better to graduate to being a missionary. Prayer: gracious God please help guide me to your truth so I may better serve you. Amen

John 8: 31-32

31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I find these verses are telling me that if I abide in God’s Word and follow His teachings I become His disciple. This is not only a great honor but knowing God through the Bible has enlightened me and changed my life and the way I live.

Dearest Lord, your truth means everything to me. Lead me by your grace to always do my best to share your message in any way I can. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Postmodernism insists there is no objective, absolute truth. This absurdity is why its advocates and those in the culture who believe this nonsense are slaves to every wind of doctrine. While advocates of this way of thinking condemn the truth claims of Christianity, they never seem to challenge gravity or other laws of physics. God’s Word is truth in a different way, though just as thoroughly as the truth that a postmodern college professor will sink like a stone when trying to walk on water. I rest in God’s truth because it sets me free from the chaos of humanity without God.

Prayer - God of truth, I pray the more and more will come to a knowledge of…

John 8: 31-32 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Easier said than done. To live out a life of truth and freedom is simply by seeking God.I can do this by allowing myself forgiveness from my own mistakes, remembering who I am through Christ. I am forgiven. I have been given the precious gift of grace, to become closer to God, I must first remember this truth to be with me at all times. truth heals and nourishes. When we know the truth about something, we can begin the process of healing and growth.…
