Hosea 6:3
Let us acknowledge the LORD;
let us press on to acknowledge him.
As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear;
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.
God does hear our calls to him. We mustn’t ignore His presence in our lives. I will admit, I am not the best in terms of hearing and recognizing God’s attempts to get my attention and communicate with me. But I know without a doubt that he hears when I am calling out to him. This verse and the writer’s response to it reminds me that God may be trying to tell me something at any time. I need to be ready and receptive to that possibility. He does not disappear or become inactive in my life just because I am not calling out to Him in pain. He is lighting the path for me, warning of obstacles and presenting opportunities.
Holy Lord, I will try to be more aware of your presence with me each and every moment. You know I need your guidance and your peace. May I better live out your will for me. Amen

Hosea 6:3
This reading makes me think about the times when I feel God is not answering my prayers or I am not getting the answer I want. “He has torn us to pieces, but he will heal us; he has injured us, but will bind up our wounds”. Regardless of God’s answer to our prayers or timeline, I must trust Him. My relationship with God grows through difficult times, it is the silver lining to my troubles.
Heavenly Father, help me to trust You always. I know You are always by my side.
Amen

To know God’s love
focus: for. Deeper relationship with God
Hosea 6:3
Let us acknowledge the Lord, let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises he will appear he will come to us like the winter rains like the spring rains that waters the earth.
The writer in The upper room this morning tells us each day is an opportunity to grow closer to god. “let us" that Hosea himself is crying out to his people to return to God. We know from history, Israel of Hosea's day did not return to the LORD. And so this is a call for personal repentance, revival and return. This scripture is telling…
Hosea 6:3
Discerning the presence and voice of God takes attention and practice. The means of grace described by John Wesley are ways to improve the two way street of communication with God. Wesley identified the means of grace as prayer, searching the Scriptures, fasting, Comminion and small groups. Each of these and other spiritual disciplines deepen our relationship as they help us acknowledge God’s presence in our lives. It is good as well to have a guide in this process. Think of Eli teaching young Samuel that it was the voice of God calling to him in the night. When Samuel learned, he was able to say, “Speak, Lord. Your servant is listening.”
Prayer - Lord, as I press…
