A Daily Devotion for Monday, June 3

Romans 8:1-2

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.

Through Christ, we have been granted freedom from living with fear of our own guilt. We are forgiven. This is difficult for me to fully comprehend, maybe because I have lived my entire life with this truth. I still must right my wrongs whenever I am able to do so; I still apologize if I know I have hurt someone. But I know God does not hold any of this against me. I will still go to heaven. My guilty conscience is something I can and should take care of here in this life. God is not waiting to punish me.

Holy Lord, you have assured me over and over that I will be with you for all eternity. Forgive me when I have doubt or fear despite this truth. I am thankful for your grace and mercy. Amen

Romans :1-2

As believers, we have the Holy Spirit within each of us. Jesus gave us the Spirit to help guide us through our journey. Yes, we have many laws and rules but they help us know the right way. Without them we would not be free because we would not know good from evil.

Prayer: Gracious God, Holy Spirit stay with me always. You guide me in the right direction. Amen

Our part in being free from guilt is to accept what God has done for us and will do over and over again. If we do not accept His provision, we may live under the burden of guilt. Guilt can be a very destructive force in our lives. We can accept God’s providing  for us…

Romans 8:1-2

Imagine living in a country where you are told you are in a people’s utopia, but the laws are so repressive that it affects every aspect of your life: what kind of and how much food you may have, what kind of work you do, what kind of transportation you are permitted and what you may or may not discuss, even with close friends. Imagine being imprisoned, beaten or executed for having a Bible or sharing the gospel. Countries like this exist even in 2024. Now imagine what a sense of freedom must be felt if you made your way from one of those countries to a free country like the US. Yes, there are laws, but those…
