A Daily Devotion for Monday, June 28

Psalm 34: 1-10

verse 5: Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

What a beautiful thought this is! As long as I go to God for all of my needs and with all of my concerns, I will not be ashamed. I need have no regrets. When I make a mistake, I know what to do. God asks us to turn to Him in all situations. He may ask us to do things we are not comfortable doing, but will walk alongside us. I believe this can be that “thing” which identifies us to others. “Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.”

Holy One, you have promised yourself to me and to everyone in your creation. I know I cannot live without you. I am forever grateful. Amen

Psalm 34: 1-10

Verse. 10

The lions may grow weak and hungry but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. God pays attention to those who call on him. God will offer escape from trouble, or help in times of trouble. We can be certain that he always hears and acts on behalf of those who love him. Those who believe him. Some of us lack more than others. God does not promise that we will always have every thing we want. These verses are David praising God for all his goodness. When we believe and call upon God in our need or just a prayer of praise and adoration for him and all others he wi…

Psalm 34:1-10 Verses 4-5 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy, no shadow of shame will darken their faces. As I read these verses, I thought of the martyr, Stephen. I am reading Acts with a friend and in chapter 6, verse 15 it says Stephen‘s face became bright as an Angels. Stephen was facing his oppressors and proceeded to tell them the history of the Israelites. He had been falsely accused of speaking against the law of Moses. He knew that this would make no difference to his accusers. He was stoned to death, but prayed for the Lord to receive…

Psalm 34: 1-10

8 Taste and see that the lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Trust in the Lord. This is sometimes difficult to do when life is sending you challenges. However, trusting that God is sending you what you can handle is a comfort. Even when I don’t understand the why, I trust that God has His reasons. This is the faith and trust I have come to develop as I read the Bible and gain a better understanding of God.

Dearest Lord, you are so very good to me. You have given me another chance at honoring you and gaining everlasting life. Thank you for all you have done for me. In…

Psalm 34:1-10

2 I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.

When I read this verse it struck me that we are usually asking the Lord to smile on the sick or suffering. We never seem to ask for prayers for those who are doing well. If we are going to “glory in the Lord” maybe we should ask for prayers for those around us who are benefitting from His help.

Dear Lord, I thank you for the goodness in my life, but I never think to thank you for the good things that happen to those around me. I do recognize your hand in the lives of others and I’ll try to thank you for…

Psalm 34:8 - “O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.”

Like the child who refuses to try a new food, but finds they like it after having a taste, skeptics often do not know what they are missing, having resisted even a taste of the Lord’s goodness. Part of our role as Christians is to be that friendly face and voice in the grocery store offering free samples. Not everyone will like what we are offering, but we may be the only one to offer it to some who do, and that will have eternal consequences.

Prayer - Lord, make me a representative of Your goodness, offering a taste of…
