A Daily Devotion for Monday, June 20.

John 16: 33

”I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Trouble comes with this life. It can be so painful at times, scary, lonely, infuriating….all these things and more. But when I allow Jesus to lead me, these feelings which are so painful, can be diminished. He really can and does bring peace! But this peace may also come from Jesus helping me to make the right decision, or turning me in the right direction to find a solution, or around the corner to run into someone who can teach me something I didn’t know. I need to be watchful and open.

Lord Jesus, you are the Prince of Peace. Help me to find your peace and to accept it. You are always there, never sleeping, never “Closed” or unavailable. I am so grateful. Amen

John 16:33 I have told you this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. This is a passage of reassurance. We are being reminded to seek the peace only Christ can give at all times but especially during the difficult and challenging times. It is easy to find the peace of Christ when all is well, but we often forget to do that when things are going wrong. Jesus reassurances us that we can always find peace in and with him. Prayer: gracious God, May I remember to find peace in you, especially in troubling times. Amen

John 16: 33 “I have overcome the world.” In essence, the end of the story has been written. Unless one truly believes what Jesus has said, this life with all its difficulties and trials is utterly meaningless. The only reason I can overcome is that the work has already been done for me. Imagine dreading a big and complicated project you know has to get done and coming in to find it has already been done by someone else because of their love for you. How much more is the peace felt to know what jesus has done for us?

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When Jesus died for us, he gave us peace of mind with the promise of eternal life in heaven. Believing in Jesus and what He has done for us gives my life joy and peace. Being thankful for all the wonderful blessings this life has given me and attempting to be God’s disciple here on earth.

Dearest Lord, I thank you for the peace you have bestowed upon me as I go through my life. The comfort and hope you bring to me is such a wonderful gift. In…

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you will have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Over 2000 years ago Jesus knew that today we would still have trouble in the world. It doesn’t matter whether we are billionaires or paupers, trouble will find us. The peace that Jesus offers us is the only real peace that we will find because it is internal. We find it by believing that we will have everything that we really need through faith.

Dear Lord, thank you for giving us a way to find peace regardless of worldly troubles. Amen.

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

This scripture teaches us that we can count on difficulties in our lives, but we can also have courage which is another way of saying we can still be positive because Jesus has separated any and all hardships, that may have the power to harm us. I am pretty sure that this verse means we will never hurt, grieve, or encounter challenges, only that painful situations cannot do any permanent harm. All things work together for our good. Jesus promised his disciples they would not…
