Proverbs 21:21
Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
In my Bible, there is a footnote indicating that the word "righteousness" can be substituted for the word "prosperity." I don't understand the choice of the word prosperity in this case. We know (from scripture as well as experience): being a good Christian will not make you wealthy. But maybe prosperity does not always involve money and material worth. Maybe prosperity and honor go together as in "having a wealth of friends". I do know I honor my close friendships. I hope that my life as a Christian makes me a good friend, loyal, and honorable.
Father God, I do not think of myself as deserving any honor. I would like to be seen by others as a good friend, loyal and trustworthy. You know my heart, and know that I long to grow closer and closer to you. Amen

Proverbs 21:21
He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor
Our proverb for today shows us those who pursue godly things will have them and more. Life and honor are added to the results of seeking righteousness and kindness. Life is certainly a precious commodity, but in the Bible, so was honor as well. To live righteously is to conduct our life in an upright manner and with moral standards that reflect our relationship with God. As christians in the kingdom of God in all that we do, we should copy his ways.

Proverbs 21:21 From the Message: whoever goes hunting for what is right and kind finds life itself – glorious life. If we look for what is right and kind and then do or be right and kind, we have found the right life. Where do you look – while the Bible of course. It sounds really simple, but of course, knowing the right path and staying on it it’s not always easy, especially in today’s crazy world. Prayer: gracious God, I read your words. I pray often. I try so hard. May I always be honoring you. Amen
Proverbs 21:21 Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
I find this verse tells me to always pursue God. To pursue honor and loyalty in His name. To always honor God in everything I say or do, without exceptions. In this way, with God’s grace, I will continue to honor God. In this way I will find love, prosperity and honor.
Dearest Lord, you give me all the tools to live a good life in pursuit of your grace. I will always attempt to do my best in this regard. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Proverbs 21:21 Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds LIFE, prosperity (righteousness) and honor.
To me, this verse tells me that the essence of life is found in righteousness and honor. Something that I used to hear often but not for many years, is: a man is only as good as his word – in other words his honor. Without honor my life is meaningless to God.
Dear Lord, thank you for exposing me to these teaching long ago – not that I’ve always followed them. Please show me the way to make righteousness and honor a part of everyday life. Amen.
Proverbs 21:21 We have made life more difficult than it needs to be by deviating from the simple truths of Scripture. Simple does not mean easy, but pursuing righteousness and love diligently, earnestly and without ulterior motives is an honorable life well-lived. It will not be without trouble as all others do not live this way. The choice to pursue wealth, power, status or pleasure may seem to have its allure, but as Solomon has said, it is all vanity. Does the way I live my life and treat others reflect which choices I have made or am fooling myself and no one else?
Prayer - Merciful God, guide my path so that I may only follow righteousness and love in…
