Deuteronomy 31:8
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Although the devotion written in the Upper Room goes in a slightly different direction, yesterday’s devotional scripture and our Pastor’s message fit in so well today. The story shared by Pastor Jen was of a man whose daughter was running a race in very cold weather. He encouraged her to take off the extra fleece and warm wrappings she had put on. They would slow her down, and would not be necessary once she got going. And yesterday’s devotion was about the woman working in forestry who had to keep going in the same direction no matter what got in her way. This is such an important lesson. Life can get very “sticky” and complicated- it can suck up so much of our emotional energy we may feel we have little left to seek God. The secret I have learned (not really a secret 😇) is that seeking God renews our energy. Seeking God fills us up, and moves us along. The more we go to God in prayer, thanksgiving and praise, the more energy we have for the rest of our living.
Holy Lord, without you, I would be nothing. You have chosen me for a purpose, and I will not give up. I will be on the lookout for things to remove from my life which are holding me back. Amen

In the Lord’s footsteps
(Focus: Christian’s who have gone before me.
Deuteronomy 31:8
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
( this same scripture was used on August 6th)
Deuteronomy 31:8 serves as a timeless reminder of God's presence, love, and faithfulness, offering comfort, courage, and hope to believers in all generations. We are to depend on him taking all the stress off ourselves and giving it all to him. We lose peace and joy by not surrendering to God completely. Nothing is too hard or too wonderful for God. We know somethings but we don’t know…
Deuteronomy 31:8 God knows how weak, fearful and easily discouraged we, His children, can be. Why else would God’s word be so replete with reminders that the Lord is always with us, will never leave, nor forsake us, will walk through the valley of the shadow of death with us? We need frequent encouragement, from God, the source of all our strength and courage, and from each other as siblings in Christ. By standing up and simply being there to support one another we are living out God’s will, providing the human contribution to God’s plan.
Prayer - Almighty and omnipotent God, I cannot stand alone in this world, but I remain assured I will never have to. You provide all…
