I Corinthians 2:6-16
verses 10-11: but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man‘s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
I am blessed this morning by a “rereading” of these words. The character and substance of the Spirit of God has a richer meaning than I had understood. The Holy Spirit is God’s soul. It is truly the very essence of Him. This is why Jesus was fully man and fully God. God allows us our own free will, our own soul, but lives within us, with us, when we invite Him in. His Spirit within us gives us more power than we often realize. (For example, the power to turn someone’s day around to joyfulness simply by singing Happy Birthday.) May I appreciate and experience this power, this soul, this Holy Spirit within me. God, help me to do so. Amen

1 Corinthians 2:6-16 (NIV) - God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit
6 We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived”—
the things…

I don’t feel I have ever realized how important being in touch with the Holy Spirit is. I have always attempted to work things out on my own. Trusting in the Holy Spirit to guide me along life’s journey is now being revealed to me through Scripture. I need the Holy Spirit in my life to teach me, lead me, guide me and transform me. I cannot rely on my own power or wisdom, but on the power and wisdom of the Holy Spirit. It is throug…
Daily Devotion January 13, 2021. 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 Paul spends a lot of time talking about Wisdom. The wisdom he refers to is not human wisdom that comes from education and life experiences, but wisdom that comes from the Holy Spirit. When I first read this passage, I was not sure I understood it. Then I remembered the story of King Solomon. Solomon made a sacrifice to God and God asked him what he wished for most. Solomon asked for wisdom and God granted it. This wisdom received came from God, not from Solomon. This is what Paul refers to. In order to obtain this wisdom, we must become mature believers and understand all that God has given …
2 Corinthians 2: 15
For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, Which of the five senses brings back my memory more sharply For me it is definitely the sense of smell. A certain kind of sun tan oil takes me instantly to a Hawaiian beach. The smell of chicken brings back childhood visits to my grandmother. A hint of pine says Christmas, and a certain kind of aftershave reminds me of a awesome handsome man. Now comes the fragrance of coffee. Paul reminded the Corinthians that they were the aroma of Christ: “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ” (2 Cor. 2:15). …

9 However, as it is written: . . . – the things God has prepared for those who love him – 10 these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
I have always had difficulty with God having a plan for me vs. free will. I have concluded that if God has a plan for me it is very general and that I have freedom to work within it, or ignore it. I also have come to understand that to work within the plan I have to consume His word and live by it.
Dear Lord guide me to realize what I don’t know about your plan for me and where to find…
