A Daily Devotion for Friday, October 2

Proverbs 3:1-6
My son, do not forget my teaching,
but keep my commands in your heart,
for they will prolong your life many years
and bring you peace and prosperity.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Then you will win favor and a good name
in the sight of God and man.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Today’s devotion reminds me of an important truth- God is with us even when things are “not going well.” In my experience, it is when things look bleak that I recognize the Holy Spirit in my life. The lifelines that are tossed my way, like finding a new book, trying a new thing, reconnecting with a friend from my past or enjoying close friends in a new way- these things which bring me joy remind me that God is looking after me. I am thankful for His many blessings and do not want to overlook a single one.
Holy Lord, Thank you for your love for me. It is indeed wonderful, and although it is hard for me sometimes to believe and accept this love, I do know that you do not tell me untruths. I am loved, and I am thankful. Amen
