A Daily Devotion for Friday, November 26

Exodus 20:16

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

Proverbs 12:22

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.

God wants us to be truthful. Hopefully by the time we reach adulthood we have settled on telling the truth and not making things up as we go along. But I have to admit, it is not always 100% easy. Sometimes telling the truth involves admitting we were wrong, or admitting we need to apologize or make things right, and that can be uncomfortable. If I am able to stop and realize God knows the truth about everything, it should be clear there is no point in covering up the truth.

Holy Father, you see me through and through. You know when I am not truthful. I am sorry for the times I have covered up the truth for my own benefit. Amen
