15-16 “If you love me, keep my commands, and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever”
When we receive Jesus we receive God the Father and the Holy Spirit. They are all one and the same. This relationship is forever, just as our beliefs in God are forever. The gift of the Holy Spirit allows us to develop patience, love, forgiveness, peace and joy. This gift of the Holy Spirit will help us to work our way to eternal life. His gift is our advocate.
