Psalm 119:105-112
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow your righteous laws.
I have suffered much;
preserve my life, LORD, according to your word.
Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth,
and teach me your laws.
Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
I will not forget your law.
The wicked have set a snare for me,
but I have not strayed from your precepts.
Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
My heart is set on keeping your decrees
to the very end.
Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation —
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
David certainly knew to turn to God for protection. I wish this were more automatic for me. I feel as if I too often need to be reminded to turn over things to God. My automatic response to concerns is to sit with them. I am getting in the habit of thinking about whether or not I have any control in the situation. Most often I am able to admit that I do not. The next step is to confidently turn that concern over to God. This is a remarkably difficult thing for me to do. But, if I remember the words of this first verse of Psalm 27, I should be able to turn over these concerns to God. His peace will follow, along with the confidence that He is in control.
Holy Lord, you are in control, and I am not. Help me, Lord, and help my family, to trust in you, and to follow your will, which is unique for each of us. Amen

Psalm 119:105-112. Psalm 27:1. Guiding Light
In both the Psalm verses and the devotion, we are reminded of the importance of God's words. I read recently that God's words are personal, practical, and powerful. It makes me think of the many translations we now have of the Bible. From the King James to The Message, man has tried to be sure everyone can understand these important words. What a responsibility! As usual, I am drawn to The Message today. Psalm 119:105 "By your words I can see where I am going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I've committed myself and I'll never turn back......" What could be clearer.

GUIDING LIGHT
(Focus: someone starting a new venture (the lighthouse and guidance for mariners in the ocean)
Today’s reading psalm 119:105-112
Psalm 27:1
Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I fear
If we Spend time in prayer and meditation, expressing our fears, worries, and desires with complete honesty to God, we can Trust that God is listening and that He cares about our well-being. Allow ourselves to surrender our anxieties and burdens to Him, knowing that He is there to support us. God is not just with us —He is our stronghold, our safe place, and…
Psalm 119:105-112/Psalm 27:1
Light as a metaphor for God’s guidance is found throughout Scripture and in many hymns. It is also seen in the Nicene Creed in reference to Jesus. How many times have we heard that an individual has “seen the light”? George Fox, founder of Quakerism taught, as a central tenet of the faith, of an inner light representing Christ in heart of every believer. When walking through a dark night of the soul, whether it be for a day or over years, the light of God may be the only thing that sustains us. Even if it is only a flicker, if it is God, your path to relief, peace, even joy will remain illuminated.
