A Daily Devotion for Friday, February 3

Ephesians 6:10-12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

We need God and his protective "armor" to keep us safe from evil. But we aren't just born with the armor, or given it when we become adults. I believe we earn, or develop the armor over time, with the help of the Holy Spirit. We need to learn to recognize evil, and to identify it. And we need to practice turning away from evil. If we are fortunate, our parents and family members help us to recognize evil. Sometimes it is by the grace of God that we learn our lesson.

Holy Father, you show us the way, the path to you. Help us not stray away, and help us utilize the armor you provide. Amen
