John 4:23-26

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

This scripture moves me through and through. We know that the woman at the well did not keep this conversation to herself. She went back immediately and told others, who came out to see Jesus. The scripture goes on to detail that some became believers because of the woman’s report and others came out to the well and became believers once they met Jesus. We have our Messiah. Jesus, in his very own words, brings us this truth.

Holy Father, I am so very thankful for your Word, for your gift of Jesus, full of grace and mercy. I wish I had lived to know him while he walked this earth. But I know Him now, and I am thankful. Amen

John 4:23-26

I love the story of the woman at the well. I use this story in my Nursing Home Bible Stories. If you continue reading beyond verse 26, you will see that she also now believed she had been talking with the Messiah. Her first thought was not about herself, but about telling everyone this wonderful news. The result of her discipleship was that Jesus stayed a few days and many people were able to see and hear his wonderful words and thus believed he was the Messiah.

Prayer: Gracious God, Help me to be more open to speaking to others about you. AMEN

John 4: 23-26

God wants us to worship with every aspect of our being. This is very personal and between me and God, because he knows how genuine we really are. Are those who attend church to check off their weekly list genuine? Wherever we go, whatever we do, the spirit of Christ is with us. We owe him him the same if we are to be genuine in our worship. What he gave us is hard to comprehend . Could you imagine coming face-to-face with Christ?

Dear God, please make me genuine in my worship, always, every day and at all times. Thank you for the gift of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

“I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

This verse is among the most electrifying in all of Scripture. Imagine being face to face and speaking with someone who imparts wisdom like you have never heard before who then discloses they are the Christ, Messiah. How would I respond? Would my heart tell me the speaker is telling the truth? What would be my fate if I rejected the message? Would I be as willing to share the news with others as the woman at the well? We have been taught the Messiah will return in a very different way than Jesus appeared, but how do we know He would not come to individuals with specific messages as part of…

John 4:23-26

But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

The Bible says that God is seeking those who genuinely worship him in spirit and in true ( v 4:23) he wants us to worship him in all we do and with sincere…
