A Daily Devotion for Friday, August 14

Updated: Aug 15, 2020

Matthew 22:37-40

verses 37-38: Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”

God needs to come first in my life. He is the first one to think of when I make a decision. He is the first one to go go when I have a concern. He is the one to thank when I am happy and the one to acknowledge as the Maker of all things. He is always there for me, and for all of those who have accepted Him in his humanness, as Jesus Christ.

Lately I have been thinking about what my witness to others might include. The experience of having God in my life, by my side through everything- this is my witness. I am truly never, ever, alone. The lyrics to a beautiful song from the musical Carousel keep playing in my mind. “When you walk through a storm, hold your head up high, and don’t be afraid of the dark...You’ll never walk alone, you’ll never walk alone.” God never leaves us. For that, I love Him with all my heart.

I love you, Lord, and thank you for living in my heart. ❤️ Amen

This is the first and greatest commandment and It surely  is a tall order. It is the principle of what it means to be a Christian. All through the Bible we are shown that God isn’t after half hearted people who will honor him with some of their time , money and affection.  God wants ful…
