And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
Teachers are mentors even if they don't intend to be. If I am teaching something, but don't live as if I believe what I am teaching, I would rightly be called a hypocrite. This makes me think about the choices we make in church and in schools to hire others to teach our children. Kids watch their teachers and their mentors. Paul warns us to choose reliable people to teach others.
Lord God, when I am in a position to share what I know of you, or to share my love for Jesus, or my reliance on the Holy Spirit, please help me at the same time to set a good example. May my life be a positive, encouraging example of your love and mercy. Amen

Paul was encouraging Timothy to pass the truths of Scripture on to the next generation, but also to pass on the basics of the Word of God itself. He also is asking Timothy to be observant, and to be aware of those who would make good teachers, and to be aware of those who would not. We need to be very careful because everything we say and do is being heard and observed by others. They then become the next teachers of the word. It is not just our religious leaders and teachers, but ourselves that people see and hear. I have a saying I saved in my Bible several years ago. “Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people ever read.”

Being entrusted to teach is a tremendous privilege I never take lightly. God has graced me with the gift to impart information in ways that folks can easily understand. Seeing students succeed is a rich blessing that never gets old.
Prayer - Thank You, Lord for the opportunity to be involved in shaping young people by serving in the role of teacher. I receive this gift as a sacred trust and pledge to ever give it my best effort. Amen
