Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
For the last two years or more, a small group has gathered to read scripture and share our thoughts and questions. In all of that time, there has never been an example of a situation or an experience where God's comfort and peace would not be available. God's word reaches every aspect of our lives. We have access to that lamp, and we need to bring it along and use it.
Holy Lord, it is hard for me sometimes to stop and use your "light" when I need direction. Help me to remember, and to shine your light on my path. Amen

Psalm 119:105
This is a favorite verse of many. We know our Bibles contain all the instructions to live a good life. Sometimes we forget that his light is on the path forward. We often shine the light back to the past and then begin to dwell there. His light is meant to lead us forward out of the dark and into the light.
Prayer: gracious God, my prayer today is for those dwelling on the past, may they find your light to light their way to the future. Amen
Psalm 119:105 Both past and future are in this verse for me. This verse always brings to mind happy memories associated with the Amy Grant song based on it. The verse also is a reminder that my path forward is always bright as long as I avail myself of the light of God’s Word. I ran across this quotation about the future from C.S. Lewis yesterday. “Only Jesus can ensure a future in which every chapter will be better than the one before.” This serves as a reminder to rely each day on the lamp of God’s Word to illuminate the pages of life’s current chapter.
Prayer - Jesus, Word of life, Lamp unto my feet, continue to guide my path…
