Isaiah 42: 1-9
verse 9: “See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
God asks us to move forward. He doesn’t ask us to dwell on yesterday or former events. He is creating new opportunities for us each day. He let the people know Jesus was coming to give them hope for the future. We talked about forgiveness last night in our Tuesday group. Holding on to anger or hurts from the past prevents forgiveness, and prevents forward growth. Forgiveness heals. Healing moves us forward.
Father God, I am truly thankful for your forgiveness. Help me to forgive. Remind me when I do not. I do need your help, God. Amen

Isaiah 42: 1-9
1 “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.”
Reading this verse I hear a promise of a Savior being sent to us. God the Father is delighted to be sending his only Son to us to help us find eternal life with him. Jesus will be sent to do the will of the Father and die on the cross to save us from our sins. The anointing with the Holy Spirit at Jesus’ baptism marked Jesus as God’s choice. Jesus was sent out of love for us and the hope of a future in Christ…
Isaiah 42:1 - “Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations.”
This is the opening verse of a short passage that was quoted by Matthew in yesterday’s reading. Jews read this in anticipation of Messiah, but Christians have received the Messiah in Jesus. This verse is also a reminder that Jesus is savior to all who ask in His name. Our role is to help open that line of communication. People cannot ask if they don’t know. They cannot know unless someone tells them. That someone must be us.

2021-0217 Wednesday, Daily Devotion - Isaiah 42:2-4 (NIV)
2 He will not shout or cry out,
or raise his voice in the streets.
3 A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
4 he will not falter or be discouraged
till he establishes justice on earth.
In his teaching, the islands will put their hope.”
Jesus did not shout or cry out or raise His voice to the people in the streets. He really well took care of a bruised reed, smoldering wick. He is the true model of a Christian who loved, took care of the people, and healed the people who hurt, in…
