Luke 14:11 “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Mark 10:43 “Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must become your servant.”
Matthew 20:16 “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.“
The big message here seems clear. God sees our acts of servanthood as greatness. This is how to please God. Putting others before myself can happen many times each day, but it doesn’t always come naturally to me.
I can work to be better at this. I am trying, and I think I have made progress, but it is so easy to be selfish. I guess God knows this, and this is why we are so often reminded in scripture to put others first.
Holy Father, thank you for your reminders to be selfless and generous. I ask you to guide me and give me nudges in the right direction when I do not see the way. I love you, Lord. Amen

11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
Today is a hard day for me to recover my physical body from my slip disc on my back. My back got hurt from shelving snow yesterday. I got better and can do something on the desk sitting on the chair. It was hard to sit on a chair today. Now I know what you (New Englander) mean by ‘Snow.’ I understood what New Hampshire Snow means.
I experienced it is hard to think properly when I am not feeling well physically. Also, I experienced in the past (even now) that it is hard…
Luke 14:11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled and he who humbles himself with be exalted. A humble person treats everybody with respect. Humility teaches us to believe that we are not much better or worse than anybody else, all people have great value, and all peopledeserve to be treated as such. A humble person is patient and doesn't easily get frustrated with the imperfection of others.God is the only one to be glorified. Period. I feel If you boast about yourself, then most people will get the impression you might be trying to manipulate them to pay attention to you so you will get the glory. Or you can boast about Jesus so that men gl…

Matthew 20:16”So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”
Sometimes when I think about people that I love who do not believe in God, I wonder. Will they be granted access to heaven? I then think that perhaps I am being judgmental in my thinking, because I do not know how the story of their lives will end. I guess I should not get caught up in judging people. They may be last in line for not believing and still be rewarded by God. Just like the thief on the cross beside Jesus. At the very end he was reward by Jesus and is with him in heaven today.
Dearest…
Thank you for the prayer Tom. I printed it out to read each morning but I changed the word calumniated to belittled because I could pronounce it and didn't what it meant.
Beautiful picture and message. It does not cost anything to be kind to others. This year has shown us all it is not about what "we want" but being grateful for all that we have.
