A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, October 28

John 4:5-14

verse 10: Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

The woman at the well does not understand at first what Jesus is saying. The well is too deep for this stranger to get water. How can he give her water? And what is “living water?” I love these verses, because the woman is just like any of us or anyone we know. She knows what she has been shown or experienced. Along comes Jesus, the very Messiah, introducing himself to her with an invitation to eternity. Unbelievable. Yet, she believes. May I also be so open to all I have been shown and taught by God’s Word.
 

Lord, I ask you to take my doubt away. It holds me back. I am yours. Amen
