A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Based on John 6:24-35
Lord,
Help us notice our desire for the perishable. Give us the wisdom to let go. Feed us with your heavenly manna. Lead us to the fountain of eternal life. Touch and wake us with your signs. so that we can see your miracles in daily routines off-island, on the island, on a ferry, on ocean waves, and the five corners intersection. O Lord Jesus, You are the living bread, living water, and living hope. As we breathe in, fill us with the breath of life, As we breathe out, allow us to celebrate the gifts of imperishable grace. Hold our hands as we follow your lead to the “holy now,” in which kin-dom signs of love, justice, and peace are ever-shining. Jesus, Come to us. Walk the ocean. Quench our thirst.
Amen.

What a beautiful prayer. It is sometimes hard to "let go." I have been reminded of that when helping my mother down size to a smaller home. Letting go of treasured items was hard for both of us. We need to be reminded to move forward.
