Welcome and News in the life of the church

Hello! Everyone!

Welcome to online worship at Contoocook United Methodist Church. Although we can't get together to worship at church, we never stop worshipping our Lord, God no matter where we are.

I hope and pray that we can keep worshipping our Almighty God with all our hearts, mind, and souls.

Centering Words

Despite rejection by the family from God’s chosen ones, God heard the voice of Ishmael and showed mercy to him and to his mother, Hagar. In today’s world of conflict and division, we must try to hear the voice of the other in such a way that we can live together in peace. Christians are called to show mercy as Christ showed mercy.

God of mercy, guide us in these troubled times to find a way to listen to one another instead of being so ready to ridicule, accuse, blame or even raising hands in violence. May each believer be an instrument of Your peace. Amen

Invitation to Worship

One: In a day when so many men are absent, we cherish the love of our fathers.

Many: Thank God for fathers who comfort and encourage.

One: Thank God for fathers who build character and inspire us to greatness.

Many: Thank God for fathers who teach morality and model decency.

One: Thank God for fathers who lovingly convince boys to become men.

Many: Thank God for brave fathers who have the courage to resist being absent.

ALL: Lord, on this Father’s Day, may we encourage more men in our community to pick up the mantle of fatherhood!

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, thank You for the many things that I can learn from the Psalms and prophets of old and thank You that I have been credited with righteousness, by faith in Christ. Prevent me from seeking after the transitory treasures of this world, and may I remember the glorious of the heavenly Kingdom that are mine, when I go to be with Jesus and see Him as He is. Keep me before Your Cross and use me to witness to those who do not know You, and pray that You would bring many more to salvation. This I ask in Jesus name, AMEN.

Ministry of Music: "How Firm a Foundation"

Today's Scripture: Matthew 10:26-39

26  “So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. 27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. 28 Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.[ a ] 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 And even the hairs of your head are all counted. 31 So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows.

32  “Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; 33 but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my Father in heaven.

34  “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35  For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36 and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household.

37  Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38 and whoever does not take up the cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.

Semon: “Be as Fearless as Jesus”

Praise God from whom all blessings flow;

Praise him, all creatures here below;

Praise him above, ye heavenly host:

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Amen.

Blessings of the Offering

Wondrous God of the universe who finds time to whisper your love to us: we come to your altar with grateful hearts. When you speak your love into our quiet moments, it is the most precious gift of all. It is not a gift for us to hold and hide, but to proclaim from the housetops! May the gifts we offer to you this morning proclaim your love loudly to a world that often feels forgotten. We pray this in the name of your Son, our Savior,“Hymn of Promise” and Redeemer. Amen.

Closing Hymn / “Hymn of Promise”

Benediction

The Lord bless you, and keep you; The Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.
