Sixth Sunday of Easter Worship

May 17, 2020

Welcome and News in the life of the church

Hello! Everyone!

Welcome to online worship at Contoocook United Methodist Church. Although we can't get together to worship at church, we can't stop worshipping our Lord, God no matter where we are.

I hope and pray that we can keep worshipping our Almighty God with all our hearts, mind, and souls.

Centering Words

The Spirit of truth dwells among us. Bask in this awareness. In the Lord, we live and breathe and have our being. Rest in this presence.

Introit / UMH #328 Surely The Presence of the Lord

Silent Prayer

Prayer Response / FWS #2193

Invitation to Worship

L: God made the world and everyone in it.

P: Our life and breath come from God.

L: God made all nations under heaven.

P: We are all God’s offspring.

L: Search for God in our time of worship.

P: When we search, we find God near.

All: Amen

Opening Prayer

Hear our prayers, O God,

as we come to sing Your praises.

Bless us with Your steadfast love,

in times of peace and in times of trial.

Make Your presence known to us this day,

for we seek to know You better.

Enliven us with Your Spirit of truth,

and increase our faith,

even as we place our hope and trust in You.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Ministry of Music: In Christ Alone

Today's Scripture: John 14:15-21 (NIV)

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

Blessings of the Offering

God of love, You are present in all things.

Be present to a hurting world in these gifts.

Help us use this offering to create a community of love

and a place of belonging for all people.

Help us reach those who seek,

and those who doubt.

Use these gifts to help people know

the blessings of being your beloved children.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Closing Hymn / "Blessed Assurance"
