1 Peter 5:7 He cares about His children.
Members and friends of Contoocook United Methodist Church, CoVid 19 continues to be the focus of attention here in our faith community, Contoocook, all of New Hampshire, our United States and the World. Again, this is uncharted territory and our lives are impacted in ways we never thought possible. The impact of this virus is far reaching: schools have been closed for a minimum of three weeks; businesses, such as, Dunkin Donuts and Macy's have shuttered their doors until further notice; banks have closed their lobbies; dentist offices are being closed for up to three weeks or more; elective surgeries have been cancelled; and whenever possible, folks are working from home. We have made the difficult decision to cancel our worship services again on Sunday, March 22, and Sunday, March 29, 2020. When most people hear the word church, they probably think of a building. Maybe it is a large ornate building or a simple building where believers gather. As followers of Christ, we know that the church is much more than a building. We need to remember that the church is not a building at all, but is all about the people. We are the hands, feet and heart of Christ and as such, it is our duty to be in prayer for those around us, the doctors and health care workers on the front lines, those who are frightened and confused, those who face an uncertain economic future and for our leaders as they made incredibly difficult decisions. We encourage you to reach out to friends and family with a note or call to let them know they are not alone. When all around us is shaking, God's Word is a firm foundation that reminds us: He is sovereign over all circumstances, (Psalm 135:6); He is in control, even when we feel out of control, (Psalm 27:1) and He is good and does good, (Psalm 119:68) Please plan to pray everyday at noon, knowing that at that time we will be in prayer together with the knowledge that God hears our prayers.
