A daily devotion for Monday, April 27

Updated: May 6, 2020

Acts 2:42-47

verses 44-45: Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

This description of the early church leads to varied emotions for me. On the one hand, I admire those who struck out with their new belief, joined up together, and were “all in.” I also know I resist that kind of “all in” community. “It’s not possible in this day and age......We can’t just all walk around in sandals and robes.” (I am pretty sure I’ve said these very words at least once.) What am I resisting? How would this kind of community look today? How SHOULD it look? I am afraid it is a matter of faith, and I am falling short.

Father God, help me. What can I do to be “all in” for you? How and what am I resisting? I will listen for you and look for your path for me. Amen

Becky, transforming
