Fifth Sunday of Easter Worship

Welcome and News in the life of the church
Hello! Everyone!
Welcome to online worship at Contoocook United Methodist Church. Although we can't get together to worship at church, we can't stop worshipping our Lord, God no matter where we are.
I hope and pray that we can keep focusing our eyes on God worshiping Him giving our lives as living sacrifices.
Centering Words
God is our rock, the foundation of our spiritual home.
We are living stones, used to build God’s house.
Introit / UMH #328 Surely The Presence of the Lord
Silent Prayer
: Invite the Holy Spirit to come in the midst of our hearts.
L: Welcome home, people of God.
P: We have come to find refuge in the shelter of God’s care.
L: Come and sit down. There is room for everyone in God’s house.
P: We have come to be nourished by God’s word.
L: We are God’s own people, and are precious in God’s sight.
P: We have come to give thanks for God’s faithful love.
All: Amen
Opening Prayer
We gather today O God, our guide and guardian,
remembering those who have nurtured us,
protected us, and helped us grow.
We give you thanks for homes that accept us
and affirmed us as your precious children.
In the shelter of your healing love,
fortify us as living stones,
and build us into a spiritual home
where all are welcome.
In the name of Christ,
our foundation and cornerstone, we pray, Amen.
Ministry of Music
Today's Scripture: 1 Peter 2:2-9
2 Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, 3 now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
The Living Stone and a Chosen People
4 As you come to him, the living Stone —rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”
7 Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone,”
8 and,
“A stone that causes people to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Semon: Thank You, Mom and Jesus
Offertory Invitation
If you are able to send your weekly pledge by mail, would you do so, please? Our church address is Contoocook United Methodist Church PO Box 356, Contoocook, NH 03229.
Doxology
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise him, all creatures here below;
Praise him above, ye heavenly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen.
Blessings of the Offering
O God, our fortress and our rock,
may these offerings be acceptable to you.
In a world facing profound need,
they seem insignificant,
but we know that in your hands,
even small things become great.
Use these gifts, and use our very lives,
to make this world a home
where all are sheltered, nourished
and cherished.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Closing Hymn / "God Will Take Care of You"
Benediction

P: God’s face shines on us. God’s faithful love saves us.
