Daily Prayer

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Based on Mark 9:30-37 Our Lord and our Savior. We confess that we have worldly aspirations. We want to be recognized, praised, complimented, and rewarded for what we do. Forgive us. You clearly taught us to go to lowly places, to serve, to be humble, and to be like a child. But, even at churches as pastors and lay Christians, we have this desire to go up and have our name be glorified. Forgive us. Help us, Lord, to lift only your name on high. Help us, Lord, to pay attention to those who are less fortunate around us. Mobilize us, Lord, so that we go serve those who are in need. And, make us humble so that we take great joy in doing faithfully little things set before us. We pray that as we do these, we get to invite you into our hearts. In your name we pray. Amen. By: Rev. Sunmin Cho, pastor of Open Table of Christ United Methodist Church of Providence, RI, Seacoast District
