Daily Prayer

September 7, 2021

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today’s Prayer

God of love and wisdom. Your presence in our lives prompts us to be aware of your wisdom and wonders. We stand in awe as we listen to your guidance and direction. We are grateful. Please forgive our foolishness, ignorance, and selfishness. Please forgive our spiritual deafness and blindness. Please forgive our disobedience and ungodliness. Please forgive us for our erratic behavior. Please forgive us for avoiding and distorting the truth. Thank you for assisting us to make the best choices in our journey. Thank you for guiding us to apply your truth to our daily experiences. Thank you for troubling our hearts to love God and neighbor. God, we confess that we fail to incorporate your truth in our daily living. We confess that we harmed our neighbors through our selfishness. We confess for rejecting godliness and embracing unwise choices. God, help us to appreciate your teachings and knowledge. Help us to know that your wisdom always surpasses human wisdom. Help us to invite wisdom and truth into our hearts so that we can always be at ease without fear of harm. Align us with your truth so that we become wiser and closer to you each day. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen (Based on Proverbs 1:20-33) Pastor Sela Rousseau, Chestnut Street United Methodist Church, Gardner, MA
