A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Our Life (To be read with Colossians 3.1-14) Christ, our life,
You want for us to be …
honest rather than deceitful, compassionate rather than angry, kind rather than malicious, humble rather than arrogant, gentle rather than rageful, patient rather than greedy, abiding rather than giving up, forgiving rather than blaming, loving rather than lustful, perfect together rather than broken apart.
We want all that you want for us; but without you, these gifts are unobtainable. We fall into patterns we wish we could hide, and forget to ask for help. We are tempted by that which is familiar — old ways of being that steal life — and lose track of your new desire for us. We struggle to remember that you came for all and that you are in everyone we meet.
Make us alive in what you want for us. Make us new in what you want for us. Forgive us and set us free. Amen.
