A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Read Luke 8: 26 - 39 Jesus, You certainly know how to mess things up. The people of Gerasa, or maybe it was Gadara, (the gospel guys can’t seem to agree), knew exactly where the trouble lay. He lay out by the cemetery, making a racket and causing a ruckus. But at least it was contained. They had a handle on things. Evil was “over there.” But then you cleaned him up. There’s nobody to point fingers at anymore. If I can’t point somewhere, what am I going to do? I’ll be darned if I let someone point at me! Oh, wait. You seem to be doing just that. Making a point. My tolerance of evil “over there” keeps me from seeing, well, me. Seeing my place in it all. You see me. Thanks be to God. You see me. Amen. By Rev. Rick McKinley, Conference Director of Congregational Development
