A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
O God of liberation, As daybreak welcomes us this morning and dispels the darkness, Renew us from the worries and concerns of yesterday, Release us from our bondage, Let guilt and shame hinder us no more Comfort us in knowing that you will carry us through this day. We are encouraged by the powerful story of Paul and Silas, Who served as faithful witnesses and shared your truth publicly, Who boldly took action to restore order amidst chaos, Who condemned the social caste system and economic inequality, Who yielded to persecution for your name’s sake, Who praised you in their hardships with zealous hearts. How did they do it? We ponder if we could do the same … Have we ever been persecuted for Jesus’ name? Have we ever been criticized by a community where we had “troubled the town greatly” Have we ever been infamous as “the people working for the Most High God?” Forgive us, God. Transform us so that … Our prayers and actions touch the lives of those enslaved spiritually and physically, We proclaim your message of liberation with others, We experience the joy of salvation at all times and in all situations. In the name of our Liberator, we pray, Amen. By Rev. Taesung Kang, Granite District Superintendent Inspired by Acts 16:16-34
