A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired hands have bread enough and to spare, but here I am dying of hunger! I will get up and go to my father. Luke 15:17-18a Turn on the light of your Spirit in us, O Prodigal God that we may come to ourselves: Ourselves who can never live fully and freely away from your grace. Ourselves with whom God always is. Ourselves who are a new creation in Christ. Ourselves from whom all the past glories and wounds have passed away. Ourselves whose inner being is renewed each moment into the image of Christ. Stir the gift of repentance in us, God of open heart and arms, that we may stand up and return: Return to you who began waiting even before we left you. Return to our soul where you prepare a feast all the time. Return to your call to be the ambassadors of your grace and reconciliation. Turn on the light of your Spirit in us, O God. Lead us on to ourselves and to you today and always. Amen.
