A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Eternal God, we bow this day aware of all of the mysteries of life which will always be beyond our understanding and comprehension. We thank you for your abiding presence as we lift our voices in praise. Everywhere, there are sights and sounds of people starting a new day, in whatever way they choose. We are thankful for this moment which brings us rest and reflection. It is here that we feel your presence and look forward to the opportunities awaiting us. We pray for wisdom when life becomes difficult in every imaginable way. Have pity on us when our lives become stunted like the fig tree. Enable us to embrace the present with insight, enthusiasm, and purpose. Empower us to look to the future with confidence and hope.
We offer a special prayer today for the world leaders. Be with the world of nations as it contends with those who have chosen the ways of war. We ask for your healing presence among the innocents who have been harmed and we ask comfort for those who grieve. We perceive ourselves to be your human children, all sisters, and brothers of one great family. Help us to demonstrate the way of love through the expression of our lives. Strengthen us to walk in the ways of integrity. Help us to seek your good for the world, and to serve one another and realize the possibilities for healing. With these as the desires of our hearts, we open ourselves to you. Amen and Amen
