A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Based on Luke 6:27-38
Lord, we come to you in our prayer seeking for your comforting and reassuring grace and blessing. However, we find your word challenging. It appears to be nearly impossible for us to follow what you teach us to do. So instead of comfort, strength, and courage, we would be discouraged and disheartened because we are being called to love our enemies. Our enemies are to be found everywhere. We are being surrounded by our enemies. In every turn we make, we would have to face our enemies. All the lies, distorted or disguised truth, false hopes. They are meant to tear us apart, not to build us up to be the community that you desire. They are intended to inject hatred and conflict in our hearts, not peace and justice. Help us to resist against such enemies and to proclaim the message of love, grace, and mercy through our words and deeds. Help us to bring your good news to our world continually and persistently. And fill our hearts with your word so we may be prepared to do your ministry and mission. Amen! Rev. SangChurl Bae, Lebanon UMC, White River Junction UMC, and Granite District Committee on Ordained Ministry
