A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Redeeming God, Who heard the cries of the captives, Who sent your messenger during the darkest hours, Who shared the good news of great joy with your people. It seems like our voices are restricted and our words are lost in our virtual meetings. We sometimes choose to be silent by simply clicking “Mute.” Silence may feel like an invisible boundary of disengagement or passive participation. We often fail to feel the emotions of others that are unspoken. We have been complacent and indifferent about matters of injustice. We have feared, compromised, and remained content with the status quo. Forgive us, O God, as we repent. Help us to be more attentive as we tune in to your gentle voice among the loudness of this world. Help us to retrieve our inner voice that comes from you, O Lord. Help us to unmute ourselves to speak for justice, peace, and love. Commend us to be a voice for the voiceless. May we put our words into action. Use us as vessels to extend your presence here and everywhere. May our voices reflect, echo, and amplify yours, May our words be prophetic, full of compassion and love, May your Spirit carry our voices through and through. Until our voices honor and praise your most holy name only, Until “all flesh shall see the salvation of God,” Until then, Unmute our voices, Use our voices mightily, Now, and always. We pray in the most precious name of our Lord Jesus, The prince of Peace, Amen and Amen. By Rev. Taesung Kang, Granite District Superintendent Based on Luke 1:68-79; 3:1-6; Malachi 3:1-4; Philippians 1:3-11
