A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
A prayer based on Hebrews 4:12-16.
O God of the Word. O God of the world.
Your light shines in our heart. Your light brightens the Earth.
While the pandemic darkness continues to press in all sides,
we trust that you are still living and active
as you cut through the sorrow and confusion
and open our souls to the love that alone can heal.
As the autumn chill arrives, may we find warmth in your Spirit's embrace.
As the days grow shorter, may we linger in the shadows of Christ's presence.
As the leaves of the trees begin to fall, may we fall into Your arms, O God,
and find rest as we lay ourselves bare before You.
The seasons may change but You never do.
The pandemic may continue to press in, but You strengthen us to press on.
O God of the Word. O God of the world.
Send your grace in these times of need
for we boldly believe that Your life and Your light
are stronger than any season of darkness that may overwhelm our soul.
We claim Your love.
We proclaim Your truth.
We thank you that there is no darkness in You
Through Christ, Amen.
