A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and the members of the Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Holy One, this day starts with the noses of your children pressed up against  a transparent barrier between us and kindom reality of your first followers:             devoted             listening             learning             sharing meals and prayers together.

Thin for us that layered barrier of             time             distance             distrust             uncertainty             hurriedness

Guide us to that devotion which will form us with              scripture             fellowship             the breaking of the body             the nourishment of the body             prayer             witness

In these troubled days may our devotion lead us to praise you. Give us glad and sincere hearts to share what we have With those who are in need. Instill in us awe at the wonders of generous service around us. Help us believe in the kindom coming all around us, even in this time of altered togetherness.

2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 2:43 Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. 2:44 All who believed were together and had all things in common; 2:45 they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. 2:46 Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, 2:47 praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
