A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer
based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Scripture Reading: John 3:14-21 O God The gospel in a nutshell* is You love the world so much. Your limitless love stretches out in every direction; from the beginning of time and will remain forever giving life to all that you have made. The immensity of your love exceeds our comprehension. The magnitude of your mercy, no living thing can escape. The power of your love no force can overcome. Because you love us first, and because your love seeks us out, and because your love finds us where we are, we love one another — by embracing the stranger as our own, by releasing captives through forgiveness by slowing the spread of a deadly virus by offering our lives and our possessions for the good of all for whom you gave it. God, you loved the world so much that you gave us Jesus, and through him, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, we have life eternal. Amen! Amen! Amen!

* "The description of John 3:16 as "The gospel in a nutshell" is attributed to Church reformer Martin Luther. Other scholars quote Luther as calling the verse “The gospel in miniature.”
