A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Commonwealth East District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Almighty God, you have gathered me into your family and anointed me with a prophetic voice, even in this Covid wilderness, to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners, to proclaim the year of your favor. Help me, O God, to take on the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit, and to promote your justice and mercy all around me.

May you sanctify me entirely; and keep my spirit, soul, and body sound and blameless until the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Nancy E. Wichmann, Pastor, East Parish UMC (Salisbury, MA)
