A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Green Mountain District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Inspired by 2 Peter 3:8-15a Long-awaited One, will this ever end? As we are unable to share the physical warmth with those whom we care for and love, As we feel the anxiety and fear as we wait for the test results, As we get tired of guessing the facial expressions behind those masks, We wonder if this will ever end. Long-awaited One, will this ever end? As we anticipate the busyness of this season in a way that we never had to before, As we confess that it requires much more effort to grab onto hope, As we find it easier to list down our needs than our abundance, We wonder, if this will ever end. Long-awaited One, will this ever end? As we find ourselves wrestling with the “purpose” amid this never-ending task of surviving, As we feel powerless before the widening gap in the trust among our society, As we are tempted, once again, to give up, We wonder, if this will ever end. And in the midst of our passive anticipation for you to do something for us, we realize that it’s you who have been waiting for us, all along. It’s you who have been waiting for us all along, embracing all, even our skepticism. It’s you who have been waiting for us to love more, hope more, peace more, joy more, and “whole” more, Long-awaited One, guide this day so that we may be found by you at peace. Guide our hearts so that our questions may dissolve into your promise. And guide our bodies so that we may lead the lives of holiness and godliness. Amen. Rev. Yunki Kim, Provisional Elder, Trinity UMC, Montpelier, VT; Green Mountain District
