A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, the Seacoast District is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

___________________________________________________________________ Today’s Prayer

Based on: Psalm 125* A song for heart-true pilgrims walking to Jerusalem Those trusting in God are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, God surrounds the people forever. Surely, the wicked shall not rest On the land of the righteous Provoking terrible violence. Do good, O God, for the righteous, And to the upright hearts. Banish the crooked, O God And bring them together with evil. Shalom upon Israel! *Translation by Kent Richards A PRAYER O God, we travel together with heart-true pilgrims trusting in Your guidance on our journey. We want Your Shalom to surround us, Your rock-solid trust to encompass us. Your patient, persistent hand brings us toward home repeatedly. We ask that you help us not be distracted by our own self-serving interests, our own unaccepting urge to neglect the sick, the poor, the unloved, the prisoner, and those we see as other or simply different. May Your way be our way! AMEN. By: Rev. Kent Richards serves Christ UMC, Mystic, CT, Seacoast District
