A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Commonwealth East District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Heavenly God, Today we are looking for your presence in the midst of the storm. When we are not able to handle our situations on our own, God still cares for us. When winds and waves lap against us in the midst of our crying, Jesus still hears us. When we can’t see anything because of overwhelming difficulties, the Holy spirit helps us see Jesus walking towards us. We pray that your voice may comfort us. "Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid." (Matthew 14:27) We pray that our faith will grow within Christ. "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" (Matthew 14:31) We pray that our difficulties will cease in your will. “When they got into the boat, the wind ceased.” (Matthew 14:32) And at the end of the storm, we will confess that "Truly you are the Son of God." (Matthew 14:33) We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
